Important note:
If you have an item in mind, it is better to use the item locator as the calculator is very... rigid.
Trade route generation:
The generator will only return results in which you can carry a full load. If it cannot locate a trade route for you, reduce your capacity and try again. Additionally, it'll spit out weird results if you give it bogus data... and further more, distance is not taken into account for most sectors because as noted below, correct distances cannot yet be calculated due to lack of data.
Trade reports:
To contribute to the trade run generation database (planets and commodity listings) you can upload your trade reports (TradeReport.csv in The Universal's "clients" directory) at this page.
Sector locations:
Sector locations are much harder and depend on whether sector distances are calculated using stepping, or trignometric functions... oh Mit? Care to tell? :) Until I can find this out sector pathfinding will remain... unimplemented.
Update: After much trying I'm having much trouble implementing a path finding algorithm (Dijkstra) and have given up on that feature for now... for now.
